GIC 2024, which took place from 18-20 April at the Expo in Piacenza (Italy), is one of the largest European exhibitions dedicated to concrete, with more participants than ever before, especially from outside Italy. ACRP did not want to miss the opportunity to be in an event of this magnitude where it could share knowledge and experiences with international professionals.

The GIC has been a one-stop shop for everything related to concrete, showcasing materials, components, equipment and technology from the entire sector.

Beyond just concrete production, the GIC highlighted products and services for the entire life cycle of concrete, from aggregate extraction and processing and cement production to prefabrication, construction, maintenance, demolition and recycling of concrete structures. Exhibitors included suppliers of concrete batching plants, conveyors, crushing and screening equipment, truck mixers, formwork and accessories, screeds, concrete finishers, chemicals and admixtures, tower cranes, excavators, wheel loaders and more.

Recognising the growing importance of concrete demolition and recycling as the construction sector seeks to improve its sustainability, GIC 2024 hosted the first edition of the Italian Demolition and Recycling Awards (IDRA), as well as the latest edition of the Italian Concrete Technology Awards (ICTA).

Another way in which the GIC is evolving to offer even greater value to its participants is the inclusion of a demonstration area. Filled with sand and aggregate to simulate a quarry environment, several OEMs have been demonstrating their latest generation wheel loaders and crushers in this new interactive environment.

In the auditorium, GIC 2024 highlighted the crucial role of tower cranes in the construction and demolition of concrete structures. For the first time, the show hosted a conference dedicated to tower cranes, emphasising their use in concrete mixing, formwork and general materials management for reinforced concrete projects.
