Francisco Esteban Lefler to join panel at the European Conference 2024

The European Association for Construction Repair, Reinforcement and Protection, ACRP, is already gearing up for the European Conference 2024, which will take place on November 28 in Madrid.

As part of the event’s growing momentum, Francisco Esteban Lefler, from The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure Consultar on Management Technology of Ports and Coasts (PIANC), has been confirmed as one of the speakers for a highly anticipated roundtable discussion.

Academic and professional background

Francisco Esteban Lefler is a civil engineer with a Master’s degree in civil Engineering (EQF 7) from the Madrid Polytechnic University, where graduated in 1980 with a specialization in Foundations And Structures.

He further enhances his expertise by earning a second Maste’s degree in Construction an Electricity Engineerin (EQF 7) from the Arme Superior Polytechnic School .

Technical leadership and contributions

Francisco Esteban has ben a pivotal figure in several key technical committees.

He has serve as the President of PIANC since June 2019, and from 2011 to 2019, he was the Chairman of the Maritime Commission (MarCom) within PIANC.

Since 1996, he has also contributed to the standardization program of the State Port (Puertos del Estado) through his work on the ROM (Maritime Works Recommendations: Geotechnics, Berthing Structures, Breakwater…) Commissions.

Professional affiliations

Throughout his career, Esteban Lefler has been an active member of numerous professional associations, including the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Association of Civil Engineers and the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts.

His professional network extend to roles in the Civil Associations of Defence Engineers, the Institution of construction and Electricity Engineers, and the Scientifical-Technical Association of Structural Concrete (ACHE, Asociación Científico-Técnica del Hormigón Estructural), among others.

Francisco Esteban’s career began in the Ministry of Defence’s Directorate of Infraestructure, where he served from 1981 to 1993.

He then transitioned to the Ministry of Transportation’s State Ports (Puertos del Estado) before joining FCC Construción S.A. in 1994, where he eventually rose to the position of Technical Director in 2015.

Since 2021, he has worked as an independent consultar, and in 2024, he took on the role of Advisor for Ports an Coasts at TYPSA.

Beyond his professionals roles, Francisco Esteban is a sought-after speaker and educator. He frequently participates in course, congresses, seminars, workshops, and roundtables discussions, where he shares his expertise as a lecture, speaker, and session chairman. His contributions to both civil and military engineering have earned him numerous national and international distinctions and awards.
